Artemis Fowl

Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer I was just gonna check out the audiobook to see if I liked it or not. I ended up finishing it in just two days. Yay! I think I finally get audiobooks.

I knew next to nothing when I started it, I mean, I didn't even know that Artemis wasn't the hero of the story, but rather the villain. Imagine my surprise! He and his 'servant' Butler made for a very good and fun team and I just really liked Butler, he was just right up my ally.
Another character I really loved was Holly Short. I loved her right from the beginning and I found myself wondering what part she'd play in this story. I really really loved her!

The world building was pretty good, I think. Had I known fairies was a (big) part of this book, I probably wouldn't have picked it up, but to my surprise I really liked them and their world.

The overall plot was simple and easy to follow, and even though it was somewhat predictable, there was still some twists and turns that kept me interested the whole way through.

I'm wondering if Holly will be in the next book as well? I certainly hope so!

The Anxiety Survival Guide for Teens: CBT Skills to Overcome Fear, Worry, and Panic

The Anxiety Survival Guide for Teens: CBT Skills to Overcome Fear, Worry, and Panic - Jennifer Shannon, Doug Shannon Ecopy provided by Netgalley and the publisher.

Okay. So this book is supposed to be a selfhelp kinda book. Yeah, it wasn't. Who doesn't know about breathing techniques by now? I felt like this book made everything much easier than it is, really. Yes, staying calm and breathing is the way to go, but tell that to someone in the middle of a panic attack. They tend to forget that and being busy trying to just survive.

First half of the book explained what anxiety is, second half goes into detail with different issues. The problem here is that the 'survival guides' are more or less the same - which means reading the same steps over and over and SIGH!
It also felt a bit childish. Like it was aimed at children 10-14. A bit too young imo.

Also, it felt a lot like those kind of books that should be free. It had links all over the place! I get that it can be nice to know where you can find more info, but really....in the middle of the text? Stop, please just stop. Those links should've been in the back of the book instead, if you ask me.

I liked the drawings and the cartoons, they were cute, but that's about it.

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda - Becky Albertalli So. That's it. It's over. Now to search for fanfiction. So.freaking.good!!

Eden's Ore: Revelations

Eden's Ore: Revelations - B.V. Bayly I received an ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I found this book very hard to get into compared to the first :/ It took 30% of the book to get started, which I didn't really like. I kept putting it down and couldn't really concentrate.
I felt like Gabriel was a whole other person in this book and that had me confused in the beginning, so it took me a while to get back into it.

There was a lot of action in this one, but I felt like it should've started from page 1 and not first a 100 pages in, because it felt kind of rushed and I felt like it wasn't explained all too well at times.

The characters I liked. Nate was a bit weird in the beginning of the book, but he was still a great character and I actually think he's my favorite.

NEJ!

Eden's Ore: Secrets

Eden's Ore: Secrets - M. B. Bayly I recived this ebook from the author in exchange of an honest review.

Wow. What a ride! I was just gonna read the first chapter to see if I liked it or not and suddenly I found myself at the beginning of chapter 34. Yeah, that happened.

I really really liked this book. It was incredibly fast paced and there was so much going on all the time. It was very sci-fi oriented, just as I was expecting and it didn't let me down at all. The whole idea about the ores was really good, although it was a little confusing with all the different colors - I hope to get to know more about that in the next book.

The characters were great, I especially liked Nate, he was a great character. I wasn't the biggest fan of Adin and I was glad he didn't appear more than he did.

As far as the writing style goes, I was a little confused from time to time - it was like I couldn't always tell who was the narrator even though I knew it.

Since You've Been Gone

Since You've Been Gone - Morgan Matson Didn't really connect with either Emily nor Sloane. I guess I'm just not that into Morgan Matson's books.

Finding Audrey

Finding Audrey - Sophie Kinsella Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy.

The award for bad parenting goes to this book.
Seriously. I'm not even kidding. The mother was extremely hysterical and while I found it somewhat funny at first, it just got too much. I mean, come on, you're 40, not 400! Surely you must know that kids today actually do need their computers for school. She was just way out there! She needed some help, really. The father wasn't much better, he was distant all the time and was afraid to speak his mind. Ugh. So bad parenting. The worst! I don't think I've ever read anything like it.

That being said, I still liked the book. I definitely like Sophie Kinsella's humor, I found this book to be very funny at times, to the point where I had to actually laugh and not just smile. It was a very light read and great for a summer day.
I also liked Frank and Linus. Frank, Audrey's brother, wasn't perfect, he definitely did some things wrong, but I didn't really mind because let's be honest - which 16 year old kid doesn't do anything wrong? Linus seemed to be such a nice guy and I really liked the way he and Audrey communicated.

Some people was offended by this book, saying it "made fun of" social anxiety disorder. Yeah, sure, it told everything in a light and fun way, but it didn't make fun of the disease at all, not to me anyway. To some people, humour is a secret weapon to deal with life and psychological issues and that's what I felt this book did. I'm not saying people shouldn't get offended, I'm just saying I wasn't. Not the slightest.

I found the ending to be way too rushed! You never find out what really happened to Audrey and she gets well way too easily! Also, what happened when she ran away? Guess we'll never know.

Despite all the issues I had with this book, I liked it and had a good time.

Jane for eksempel. Åh, hvor var hun bare sød. Hende kunne jeg rigtig godt lide.

Dislikes:

Det Onde - Anders Westenholz, Stephen King I don't get Stephen King. Why would he waste so much time on writing 1000+ pages, when he could've just written 200? I'm just wondering. I just found this book way too long.

City of Ashes

City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare The bigger they come, the harder they fall.
