The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Vladimir Nabokov, Dan Chaon, Robert Louis Stevenson I think we all know the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
It was a very quick read, but unfortunately the story never really captivated me the way I expected it to. I think that's due to the plot twist (meaning that I knew the story already and therefor I didn't get too excited about the twist with the Jekyll and Hyde-thing. I didn't know about the details though, and I really liked those parts. One of the things I liked in particular, were the letters.
The writing style was pretty good, it didn't feel like an old novel at any point, which I really enjoyed. I also found it to be funny at some parts, like "play Hyde and seek", and the way it described the "evil woman face".

I listened to the audiobook of this and although I enjoyed the narrator, it wasn't really loud enough for me to be able to hear it all clearly when I was out walking. :/

Girl Online på turné

Girl Online på turné - Zoe Sugg Oh boy.

Girl Against the Universe

Girl Against the Universe - Paula Stokes I had high expectations for this book, but I didn't expect for it to grab me the way it did.

This is a story about a girl who's struggling to stay above water, but finds herself drowning time and time again. I think we can all relate to this. It's about being afraid of things happening to other people more than oneself. About taking on too much responsibility and survivor's guilt. I think we've all been there, more or less. And that's the thing about this book: It's so relateable!

I don't know whether I actually learned something from this book, but it definitely made me think about some stuff. Stuff that's been piling up for a long time, and that I was now able to think about and figure out. I don't know if I would've worked up the courage to do so on my own, but this book definitely inspired me to just do it. I'm grateful for that.

I loved Maguire. I loved the therapist. I loved the love interest Jordy. I basically loved everyone!
The way Maguire fell in love, but still struggled with her life was so realistic. Love doesn't just cure everything! Sure, loved ones can be helpful through hard times, but they can't just make everything better like that. It takes hard work from the person themself. This book got that part exactly right and I really loved reading about it. I feel like maybe this book could help break down some taboos.

The writing style is working really well too. This book is full of humour, heart and wise words. I love how it made me go from laughing to tearing up within the same paragraph. I don't care what Paula Stokes writes, because I'll read it all.

Shopaholic on Honeymoon

Shopaholic on Honeymoon - Sophie Kinsella Okay, so this didn't really bring anything new, but it was a somewhat fun story about Becky in Italy. We learned how she found all these new things that she just had to have and therefor she had to make excuses for them, and make up new interests like art.
I didn't really get their fight, I mean, they're newly weds, and he knew what he was going into before marrying her, so I found that to be a bit over the edge. Who would've known he was an artist btw? That was news to me! It's possible that I might just have forgotten it though.

I was a bit disappointed that we only got to see one place that they were travelling to, I would've liked to see more.

It was an okay book for the 30-something pages that it is, but not more than that, and the series cn be easily read without this one. It's a good read for a summerday when you can't make up your mind.

Just Pretending (Hearts to Follow Book 1)

Just Pretending (Hearts to Follow Book 1) - Dana Burkey, Bethany Walters I was a bit disappointed in this one.

I never found out why Cam was into Nick in the first place, which made this book a bit odd. Naturally, when Nick came back and acted like he did, I didn't get him at all. I never really liked him, and now I seriously disliked him. Not good for a lovestory! Josh, however. Wasn't he just the sweetest?
I don't think this book offered anything new in the genre, the "let's try and fool this guy by pretending we're in love" concept is so used, so I don't really get why that was used for such a short story where nothing was explained in depth? I think it could've worked in a regular novel, because things would've been explained more.

I did find it to be a cute little book though. It was fun at times, and a very easy read, and I can only imagine how this one might be a good one to read if you're trying to get out of a reading slump.
I'll recommend this to people who just need a quick YA romance story, but don't expect too much from it. There are better books out there, and there are worse. :)
I might continue the series, just for the fun of it.

Lagt på is

Lagt på is - Elle Kennedy Gimme the next book now please!!!

Rum

Rum - Emma Donoghue, Kirsten A. Nielsen Really good! Only thing that annoyed me was the writing style in the beginning of the book, apart from that it was so so good and intense and interesting.

Are You Still There

Are You Still There - Sarah Lynn Scheerger Yesyesyesyesyes thank you netgalley thank you thank you thank you!!! *overly excited*

I received a copy of this book from Netgally in exchange of an honest review.

This book started off really good with the protagonist being caught in the bathroom stall peeing her pants out of fear. I just wish the level of action from the beginning of the book had been just as high throughout the rest. The middle of the book was pretty boring and just about normal high school drama; boys, friends, family etc. Excuse me, there's been a bomb threat to your school, could we adjust our focus, please?

I really liked the relationship between Gabi and Chloe. I liked how they could be best friends one moment and the next they hated each other. It felt very true. I wasn't too big of a fan of Eric and Miguel though, and the romance felt flat to me. I just didn't feel anything. Janae was a really good character though, and I also liked that her parents was a big part of the book (but what happened to the mom in the end? Why didn't we get an explanation?).

Overall, this was an okay book, I just wish there would've been more action and focus on the bomb thing instead of the teenage drama.
